Sometime in this sweet sweet century,
Oh we will die together.
Oh my love my sweet,
My sweet array, we will surrender.
Sometime before we become enemies,
Can we lay down here somewhere?
Underneath the stars up on a hill, my sweet surrender.
Follow me with your cuts of the deal and all your sorrow,
Enter if you can through all the tears of your parade.
(Chorus):
Is this the end of everything we know?
The end of all we know?
The end of all we’ll ever know?
Is this the end of everything?
End of everything we know?
The fall of all control?
The end of all we know?
All this started something beautiful...
Oh my love, my lust, sweet jubilance,
We’ll never lose our way again.
Until we have need to cry for help,
There will be silence.
Oh sweet melody,
Sing for my queen.
When you are restless, come to rest.
Gentle is the sun,
On hollow ground, on hollow ground.
So hollow..
So hollow..
Sometime in this sweet sweet century,
Oh we will die together.
Sometime in this sweet sweet century.
(Chorus)
Oh Oh Oh...
All this started something beautiful...
You know..
You know..
You know..
4x
Is this the end of everything we know?

Learning to accept
It's just gone midnight and I'm still not in bed.
Got one of those headaches which make me feel numb.
Noisy kids next door made me feel glad we don't have any.
Than again, watching Deana Troi have a kid from baby to 8year old within 2 days on ST Enterprise NG made me feel sad not to.
It's funny how things influence feelings and perceptions.
Things we see, hear and notice without realising.
In my heart I know I don't mind either way, having children or not.
And with modern medicine the "biological clock" has been smashed some time ago.
Even society is catching up with the acceptance of "young mums" at almost any age.
I don't yet feel the need that I must have someone to care for, like an inevitable reason to have a child no matter what and how. At the moment if it happens it happens just like I always thought. Maybe in a few years I would get more obsessed about it, like you do. We'll see what happens.
For now I am taking each day as it comes, not really searching for a purpose, as I feel at this time I pretty much have a daily duty to do. I can fill the dull moments with tasks and take my time to think about ideas I have about my higher calling, or if this is all I am.
Am I meant to be a carer?
At the moment that would be my obligation, yes.
I always thought I am meant to be a thinker. But whether this means that I am a born philosopher or engineer, inventing things, of that I am not certain.
My thinking is based on logic and problem solving, I always tend to see what's wrong and how to best fix it, amend it to my preferred state or result. I know it eggs people on, well those I divulge my opinions to, but I seem not to be able to help it. As if my mind has a mind of it's own. A critical mind by default. Then I think and decide to air my thoughts or keep them to myself. Usually the part I use for thinking before speaking lacks behind and my tongue does the damage.
I read something about risk assessment the other day and that is what happens in my head every second. I look for the problem where there isn't any, and devise solutions to be implemented. The real problem occurs when I expect others to do the same and get no result. I question then my reasoning of coming up for a solution to no problem. If I had just accepted the things that are, I could've moved on to more important things and not wasted my energies getting all worked up and confused.
Engineers search for solutions to problems, practical answers to every day challenges. In philosophy however the focus is more on problems and questions. You wonder about problems what they are, if they are and why they are. Questions and contemplation on how those arise or why. I often ask myself why I expect others to think like me, and how I could think of a solution to a problem which seemed to be bugging only me. Why was it a problem to me? Why did it get only me thinking? Whereas others didn't even seem to take any notice what so clearly poked me in the eye? And I knew the consequences of me having to point out my dilemma. Ridicule and misunderstanding. I wasn't able to make myself clear enough and it all came across as arrogant and snobbish.
I am simply trying to make myself understand why the other person didn't notice what seemed obvious to me. But there is no way to ask of this without questioning their way of thinking. Without seeming superior. As "why didn't YOU think of that?" implies the absence of intelligent thought and cognitive awareness. I don't want to just "pick your brains" to show how dumb you are! I am looking to understand why I just can't let things be, can't let go of useless thought processes which cloud my mind with negativity.
I belief this is what keeps me from truly holding on to happiness. I feel levels of being content but not for long on one specific level. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel unhappy. I love the funny. Enjoy comedy and laughter. And get silly sometimes, more than it is good for me. But sometimes that negativity can be a real buzz-kill. Learning to accept is now my biggest goal.
Accept things as they are, that they are. I might never figure out why I think the way I do, but I can find a way to accept that I do, and others do different. Everyone is different, therefore thinks different. Accepting this proves to be my biggest challenge.
Good night.

Happ-ling
when am i really happy?
i'd like to think of myself as a happy person.
i love comedy, stand-up, movies, anything.
watching something funny is exhilarating.
but is it true happiness, or simply entertainment?
and does it mean that i am happy, only if i 'get' the joke and find the funny? laugh?
if others find it silly and don't laugh because they might not 'get' it, does this signify the lack of happiness in their life?
Maybe everyone has their own personal definition of happiness.
what seems loneliness to one, could mean bliss for another?
for me it is comedy!
i simply can't go a day without laughter, even if i laugh at myself.
not making fun of others, but seeing the funny side of things.
iPad
It's really great for newspapers and magazines.
And blogging :)
Video quality is ace!
And this is much neater and more practical then a web or notebook anytime, well for my needs anyways.
my iPad, brand new :)
Trying to test the battery.
And everything else on it :)
Facepad wouldn't load before the 4.0 update.
Pictures and videos are brilliant. It's fun to just play around with it all.
Oh, and on Monarch make sure the account details are correct, or it will quit on you.
Ok, that's it for now.
Just loaded music studio lite, and can't wait to test it! C ya...
supposed to make life more interesting.
seems to me this all adds more timewasting and really jumbles up ones priority list.
keep in touch
shout out opinions
it helps lonlyness though, well, on one side.
on the other it confines you to the front of the so much worshiped pc or laptop and you seem consumed by information just in front of you.
until recently i saw it all just as a easy way to communicate and maybe a bit of fun.
then the panic:
all vital apps on my mac just vanished!
mail, addressbook, im's, even safari and firefox!
poof - all was gone.
a virus? on a mac system? can't be!
when it happened i just unzipped a new download.
and only affected the apps. only a few were left, strangely.
some adobe air programs in utilities and some which none were basic system apps.
then it dawned, without any apps to go 'online' what was i going to do?
i have my backup disks, of course, but the apps?? who backs those up?
well, i might mention that my system was a hand-me-down, and did not include any OS disks.
then my idea - get the apps online! - doh!!
how get online with no apps!!!
thats some pickle!
there you can see how we depend our communications on systems which could fail.
and we are immediately stuck.
still in front of the screen but stuck.
and then we think, how did we manage before it?
i don't remember it being boring, or impossible to get through the day.
we are all creatures of habit, i suppose.
getting used to technologies and learning the joy and to indulge in the comfort and safety of our home and anonymity.
we panic at the thought of not being able to access that freedom of communicating and sharing of - for us - important information, at our own choice.
Mark - our Heart..
..bright at night
nice and wise
you write your life
your eyes - no lies
so blue for you
and hazel - amazin'
your love - like a dove
with grace - no race
you've got her trust
another chance to make amends
for the joy of your boy
to see your girl, dance and twirl..
without no doubt
no heart no Mark
no soul, not whole
so, keep! you'll need
her touch so much.
her light, so bright.
you wink, we think
a dream and scream
underneath we breath
increase of peace
you give, we live
you smile - a while
oh my! - a sigh.
you rock our worlds
with words, and shirts
so wet - with sweat ;)
we're stunned and want
the core, and more.
your move, so smooth.
you shine, our time
of fun, and the sun
you bring when you sing.
with storm, but warm
you care and share
your trance with us - your fans.
your song, so strong
and pure, our cure
and heal, we feel
no ache and take
the ride - beside.
amused and loose
all fear, my dear.
on your way, we stay
in touch so much
hold hands as friends
with mark, our heart.

the 11th!
Past the 10, its now eleven
i can't believe we're still in heaven.
as the years fly by like clouds in the sky
in rain and sunny weather
for worse but much more for better
my mind, my soul, you make me whole
much more to come, for me to see
to learn and earn the right to be
a true wife with pride and dignity
our future, more time to share
in love, serenity and care
to prove its worth, have strained your nerve
for only it is the best that you deserve,
my heart and soul, now and ever
'cause all i wish is us - together!

You Are
To me you are,
so wunderbar.
my mind is clear,
when you are near.
as time has past,
though the world not just,
you still stand strong,
if right or wrong.
and long to guide
as we, side by side,
stay on our path.
and cry and laugh.
the change has come
from rain to sun.
now forty years,
come brand new fears.
some aches and pain,
but you're the same.
you may feel old
but your heart of gold,
it knows the truth
of inner youth.
an open mind
and always kind
you seek to know
for us to grow
all things new,
absorbed by you,
weigh good and bad,
sort happy - sad,
use to our benefit,
if not we learn to deal with it.
up's and down's year by year,
through it, and we're still here.
further more, i have to say:
I'll be with you on our way.
for you I'll be the solid core,
as years go by 'til forty more...
Always Yours!

when popstars cheat
its easter, and mark owen is still in rehab.
who sets the price you have to pay for infidelity?
your therapist? the management?
the wife who was cheated upon?
or the girls who he cheated with?
his cheating, as i see it, could have been just another symptom.
in another newspaper article it was mentioned he has phases of melancholy and whispered "Help me" into his drink before going all boozy high.
high excitability and deep thoughts of sadness go hand in hand.
the wide ever-smiling grin seemingly genuine, just covering a possible depression?
underlined by extreme shyness.
its a recipe of regret.
bipolar? in a man? maybe?
but where can you find the cause? the source for such misery?
alcohol - excuse for self-destruction?
but why drink? why smoke? why have nerves to be tamed?
insecure?
for me it was my childhood, to many times being told what i'm doing wrong, and more than that, not being told when things go right. i drew back into my shell.
some have expectations to meet, and the fear to fail.
i think we all have our unique way to self-destruct.
and few find their way through.
transform negative energy into positive.

downsize
starting to downsize in possessions.
all excess to be sold on eBay.
what is really needed?
simple things, just enough stuff you use every day.
i started to de-clutter, well the few things i have and don't ever seem to use.
everyone has their favorite things they use day in day out.
why not just stick to those and rid yourself of all else?
so if the day comes all can fit in the car and your off to new adventures..
one handbag, one purse, just the ones you really love and use constantly anyway..
the favorite jeans you wear for weeks (well, not really in one go though).
couple of t-shirts and a few more sophisticated clothing for going out, or showing off..
the electric guitar you've always wanted, and everything with an 'apple' on.
well, the affordable i-series products at least..
and there you go.
no complications, no worry about, what shoes to wear today?
two pairs of trainers, boots and the elegant high heels.
a coat, a jacket, the fitting scarf and leather gloves.
i'm not a hat-person, so scratch those...
less distractions make for better focus on what you want.
you take more care, cause the items are dear to you.
self-storage? waste of space..
why store what will never come in use again?
i can hear women screaming country-wide.
10 bags and 5x more in shoes - the standard stock take in common wardrobes..
20 jeans, all the same, half don't fit but take up space.
tops and shirts galore, and each shopping trip adds to it more and more.
the shelves are stuffed, the walk-in bursts at its seams.
we crave the pleasure to have and keep, though no-one ever needs.
thx for reading :)

and my reply:
i think its individual, if someone cheats or not. forgives or not. everyone has their own set of rules and values. for some it fits, some it doesn't. to suggest media influences social moral values on one side, and depreciate the value of loyalty the forgiving wives are upholding on the other is similar to comparing the effect of published evidence of violence in media to the disapproval of rehabilitation schemes for convicted underprivileged who simply don't know it better due to their upbringing and circumstantial environment. everyone deserves a second, third or even tenth chance. if the partner is supportive and understanding. cheating, in my opinion, is mostly the symptom of a deeper and more fundamental cause. and cheating celebrities making it 'ok' to cheat for everyone, because the partner displays the act of loyalty and love by forgiving? if any influence then one of love and support. that strength by the forgiving wives is what i'd take out from all of this. thx
----
editor's supplemental (star-time:456547) - me, bit of a trekkie :)
well, i know media can affect us all, but i think what we see in the media about celebs is a magnified reflection of our own little do's and don't-s, but because they're in the limelight everyone, well, mainly over excited reporters and columnists, get all hyper if anyone steps out of line, but on the other side they can't wait for it so there's work to do, and the mortgage needs paying. we all have our weaknesses and flaws and if anything stories like those recently about our loved role models make them so much more accessible and real. and because they are loved by their fans we can forgive, too. just like the wives who decide to stand by their side and help understand what really causes the faux pas.. well maybe cheating is considered more then just that. but getting to the base is the point. and if it won't kill the partnership, it certainly will make it stronger and the hard earned trust will carry more value for both then ever before. the split as the ultimate punishment is also a milestone for each involved and lessons can still be learned.
i understand its not for every one. i am one of the forgiving ones, but i got to tell you one thing, its so much easier to give up and split. the pain is the same though. so either way there is suffering. you can't avoid it. in my case i could draw strength each time, and now i am the happiest i have ever been. but as i said, its not for everyone.
i have to add, the first time was more of a misunderstanding then actual cheating.
i was still naive enough to mistake un-communicated expectations as strict and both side-ly wholly accepted rules. i tried to be 'cool' with it, thinking he would get the 'irony' of it and keep his side of the 'pact'. a pact i had only agreed on on my own. never think unspoken preferences or individual obvious understandings are obvious to the other. i had to learn and accept that the hard way. everyone i know will under no circumstances share my attitude towards partnership and love, at least not to the level i value my marriage, or more, my relationship with my partner, so called husband. i always felt not worthy being a 'wife' i seemed to get everything wrong from the start. now i understand that marriage is much more then just a committed partnership.
some might suggest my loved one 'groomed' me the way he wanted me to be, to accept my role quietly and purr like a cat. i learned to share is to love. to accept is to have. to be there is to hold and be held. to love is to be loved. i never dreamed to share my love with someone else. i thought, to be loved meant to have sole ownership of the privilege to have a person for yourself only, and nobody other can even get as close as to touch. in a way i am thankful now, for having gone through the experience and the understanding i've gained. i am not saying to be happy in a relationship you have to let your partner cheat, or knowingly let him have someone on the side. i have come the my conclusion in my case and through my experience.
its another level of companionship.
for me. and that fills me with comfort and results in happiness.
i had anger issues, and anger still surfaces from time to time.
which made the whole process the more challenging.
reading literature on the Buddhist view on how to deal with anger made me understand practices to help calm down and react rational. instead of bottle-ing it up i learned to accept and keep my view on what i need for preserving comfort and assurance. i realized if i simply take things as they are and learn to appreciate the company of my sweetie i am able to enjoy it much more. putting Buddhist views and attitudes into practice enabled me to focus on what i really love and hold that dear. in my case deep rooted insecurities caused damaging fear and resulted in the symptom of anger which surfaced every time i feared that my husband would have enough and find a more agreeing and accepting willing individual to share his company. we have gone through everything possible and it took all of his love to get here.
expectations are a real burden, and a habit that sticks like treacle.
so easy to hold up to someone, and so challenging and certainly impossible to fulfill.
and changes, used to panic me. my head would fill with 'what-if's'. it scares me if i don't know whats up next. and the panic was a unhealthy distraction from enjoying what's to come.
on a 'house' episode today i found a fitting 5-step process analogy.
denial
anger
bargaining
depression
acceptance
its a painstaking process, but for me it was all worth it.
and it still is. buddhism eases the blocking effect of anger.
once through the bargaining and 'crying' phase accepting the things finally is the sweetest part and enables me to fully enjoy what i have and cherish the togetherness.
peace and happy companionship - every one! take care...
almighty clouds
today i look up into the sky
bright clouds are passing by
the wind so fast and restless
guides them along so fearless
i feel the air embrace my face
my mind all whirling like a mace
spirit rising high above and ride
away with almighty clouds beside.

public footpath..
every day, when i look out the window from the office, i can see the sign 'Public Footpath'.
pointing to the right it directs the way to shortcut behind the houses and back gardens.
how funny it is that with all our individual independence we still find ourselves following pre-designed paths. we wouldn't sneak through private gardens or jump borderline fences to get to where we want.
yet we require 'shortcuts' or pathways to speed up the journey and save ourselves time,
time we waste otherwise in useless conversations and arguments.
we could utilize that time to be fully aware of the journey we are about to endeavor.
walk the whole way instead of taking the convenient shortcut.
and enjoy the journey as it is meant to be.
but in this day in age we urge to simply 'get things done' as quick and easy as humanly possible.
the first book i ever read was called "Momo" by michael ende - it is about the concept of time and how it is used by humans in modern societies (courtesy of wikipedia).
that book captivated me like no other before. it made me think about time and people.
the start of a journey that should lead me to - which i know now - a way of philosophical thinking which i hadn't achieved otherwise.
i learned to take my time to think about all sorts of objects and subjects.
growing up in a matriarchy and not getting on to well with my 'beloved' mother i did have a lot of time spending on my own, mostly within the walls of my rebelliously chaotic mess called room.
being quiet in speech, i was rather noisy in actions and used to irate my sole entity of authority tremendously.
now, knowing of the bliss such ordeal brought up for me, i can understand the 'bottled up' anger i channeled in actions like refusing to obey at times or simply to draw myself back into mediocrity.
i can now realize this as blessing in disguise.
if i wouldn't have come across the book.
or succeeded in making my mother truly proud, maybe there was a time when i did, but with
her failing to show me positive acknowledgment, i managed to convince myself that i'm just one
of those who can't do thing right, and by thinking well, 'why bother' i played myself into a corner
where you get to annoy people and you end up spending time on your own. - thinking.
i grew to like being on my own, now, all grown up the only regret is that the big disadvantage in 'being on your own' is that you grow yourself a huge 'issue' with socializing - with that being increasingly unavoidable in this day in age, you can see the clearly forced upon compromise.
even though i find it difficult making friends, i can easily compromise big amounts of friends confined on light chit chat which mainly adds up to nothing more than nonsense.
But without any of that, my path or journey would have led me to a different door, and i would have stepped through and became a different person, and that would be a real shame, because as a different person i would have never done the things which led me to meet my lovely partner(in love and friendship!) who taught me true understanding and support, and my little darling nice(my sister-in-law's little girl) would have never shown me a type of unconditional esteem and trust i had never imagined could exist between two beings.
thank you!
just a little thank you to the blog entry which made me think back today.
on alistair's blog
it was the first picture which took me right back to being a teenager,
‘path of puberty’ went through my mind.
when the scary thought rises that being a girl is not
done by simply wearing a dress and having long hair.
you discover parts and (monthly) processes you were not aware of
before. feeling shame, trying to hide it, but thinking
everyone can see in your face whats going on.
then the door at the end..when you understand that the
path you walked was a privilege and you step through
having become a woman.
i love art when it gets you to places you won’t even
dream of anymore…
take care!
point of view
what i find interesting on my daily adventure is how we all tend to perceive things one way or the other.
where the cause is identical, still responses vary.
weight-loss is widely seen as a goal happily rewarded by respect and support.
the hard work is acknowledged.
but at what point does it go to far?
or at what point do we generally perceive it as 'gone to far'?
does it happen when envy sets in?
when we realize that even we couldn't do it better ourselves?
there is the health question too, yes, that is an understatement.
but in some cases opinions go as far as almost wishing for an unhealthy lifestyle, simply to pertain the 'image' they are used to, and all hard work and effort is reduced to obsession.
celebrities have a right to feel better about themselves.
if we find that hard to accept, we might have to re-focus our point of view.

bbc on Jay-Z
i must say, i am not the typical hip-hop, R'nB or Rap target market, but i do respect talent when i see it!
watched tonight on bbc1 - imagine feat. Jay-Z
and was really disappointed by the end.
usually bbc gets all the facts right, but in a way, mostly when the report is about any other than a 'proud to be British' artist in any kind or form, they always manage to leave a strange and bitter taste...
Jay-Z worked very hard to get to where he is right now, and coming from that background it is more likely to win the bloody lottery jackpot.
its hard enough, and you gotta work 10 times harder just to get half the success..
saying, he caused quite a stir at Glastonbury?? my [@$%&] spoon causes a stir in my cup!
he managed to raise the roof at an open air event! - open air! when the people jumped it was like the planet got resuscitated from a coma of ignorance and contempt.
times are changing and we should give those who really care to make a difference honest credit and gratitude, there are still only a few handfuls of those who ARE history, and if we make it seem like nothing because we can't bare the thread of acknowledging our own mediocrity then we are not worth of even becoming history ourselves.
its sad to see that the bbc seems to fear that thread.
i will keep watching, for the facts, and i think my mind is (still) clear and open enough to make up my own.
rappers are the true poets of our time and we should never underestimate or belittle the value of the message or the hard work behind it to get the message heard...
thank you..

that’s the atomic power of twitter…
take one infectious enthusiasm of an highly reputable and knowledgeable entity of showbiz on one side, sophisticated globally spread technology to unite and channel interest and affinities on the other, and well, there you have it..a bestseller enjoyed and celebrated by everyone.
if it weren’t for loved celebrities like Stephen and others, a fast growing interest of social technologies and ever developing IT geniuses, we wouldn’t be able to share the great works by brilliant writers all through the entire social community.
if the shrewd aim for profit of publishers means to cash in on the back of the hard earned popularity of publicly celebrated people, but at the same time gives everyone the chance to benefit from the content and the ability to widen their horizon and understanding of issues they were not even remotely interested in before, then – so be it.
its unfair to use quotes without the important value of authenticity.
a policy or terms of use may be suggested… to protect intellectual property, so if its not ’said’ it won’t be quoted.
but if the quote is genuine and true, it would be a shame to leave it off the book cover to prevent a sudden rise of sales.
the sudden rise of interest, and the acquired knowledge after consumption is far to valuable to the delicate scaffolding of our global society called common sense.
ref. blog entry by Stephen Fry
the importance of being mindful
Family ties had classified my 'religious background' as catholic, so in school when it came to the subject of 'religion' we were separated in catholic, evangelic and 'other'.
maybe to avoid cross-religion brainwashing.
or to maintain the brainwashing within a specific 'faith'.
or both - is my guess.
those belonging to the group - 'other' - had one hour of 'hanging out' or a so called "empty-hour".
i used to think of my lesson more as a bible-study.
as you wouldn't 'learn' about "religions", but you'd be taught whats written in the bible, and what it means - for Catholics, so you'd know what you are supposed to do as a 'proper' catholic.
well, more of what would happen to you if you don't.
it felt like, to have the questionable 'privilege' of getting to know Catholicism you HAD to be catholic, like an exclusive club where you make sure you are among same 'thinking' people, how very christian....keeping diversity strictly separate doesn't embody understanding and mutual respect for each other, now does it?
thank god that that's changing.
ok, now back to buddhism, whereas the basic principles are fairly straight forward and easy to grasp, it is an entire different task to live up to it in your everyday life, especially considering the diverse lifestyles in present times.
(..won't mention the credit crunch here, rather leave that to politicians for excuse purposes)
i used to think when you meditate you must maintain a 'thoughtless' mind.
kind of relaxing your neurons..
but knowing now, thinking like that seems really juvenile.
if you try to empty your mind, what happens is you actually contemplate 'emptiness', so you ARE still thinking.. and that is what its really all about.
you have to think things through to get a clear head.
we all can incorporate a little mindfulness to our daily stress...and make it seem less.
if we are conscious of what we create, consider others around us a bit more and just a little acknowledgment for events, even as banal as a car giving way, and the gesture of a thank-you-wave.
problem is: not everyone thinks the same, so you will always come across someone who won't be considerate and that really blows.
we all are very 'mindful' when we strike disappointment, we complain, we dwell, we blame, like there is no tomorrow...somehow everyone finds 'time' to focus their mind fully on aggravation.
the reason why being 'positive' seems such a struggle sometimes is that getting angry is just to easy, we never have to 'force' ourselves to get mad. it almost seems 'natural'.
but nevertheless we have the ability to be mindful.
to me mindfulness is just like water.
an element in your life you can utilize as lifesaving entity such as drinking water.
or comfort and pure joy as in a swimming pool or soothing bath.
though it takes effort to make it save to drink or gather enough to fill the bath.
uncontrolled however it will drag you away, and if you don't consist of the knowledge how to swim and there's no-one to help, drowning will be unavoidable.
But at the same time you can't do without it, you'd die of thirst.
thank you, and good night.
what a waste! or policy before trust?
ok, so i had the morning off today...
and when i got to my mac mini to check my mail i noticed that yet another has added me to their list of people to follow on twitter.
@milblogging or 'Military Blogs'
how intriguing i thought, as non of my interests or comments had anything to do that would even come close to anything 'military'.
well, i am aware a high number of twitters follow just about anyone - promotion - yes?
and having seen an add to interest people in becoming reservists in the RAF here in the UK, i thought, ok somebody is becoming desperate.
anyway, refusing to judge a book by its cover i thought, well then lets check the profile.
i ended up reading the blog entry on @milblogging's site.
here: Troops destroy beer in Iraq.
the entry displays a truck crushing beer cans left behind at the foreign compound, now occupied by the US Troop.
well, i get the policy about alcohol in a combat zone, but destruction?
why not give it to civilians?
or how about keeping it save until 'the fighting's over'?
i understand they should not consume alcohol, but i can't quite get the 'possess' part of the policy. Seems to me like lack of 'trust'.
making sure the beer is destroyed to even avoid temptation?
don't soldiers have the discipline and strength to withstand that kind of temptation?
i think its a question of trust, at the expense of good beer going to waste.
it just shows that policy has no room for faith, trust or consideration for the healthy level of common sense and understanding a good soldier should naturally possess...
personally i don't support fighting as a solution for any issues or differences,
but i understand a soldier has to do a job like we all have to, and as long as politics endorse conflict, somebody has to do the job to deal with the consequences.
but if even set policies seem to discount respect and belief in the people they are intended to protect and guide, than - to me - the whole idea of 'combat to protect all' doesn't seem right.
it is a job nevertheless and i respect anyone simply doing their job.
there is a compromise in everything we do - every day.
and we all have choices.
it would be a perfect world if we all would always choose the right thing to do, but in reality this world is simply not perfect, and we all learn at one point or another to deal with it.
thank you...
IQ - natural, or depending on personal inerest?
i believe i consist of a healthy level of common sense.
but in general i never thought of myself as highly intelligent.
average i thought.
i love puzzles and used to enjoy maths at school.
so maybe in some ways i have an interest in solving logical problems.
could that interest be a motivation to my intelligence?
and those considered 'less clever' or daft, might it just be the lack of interest
and motivation regarding logical solutions?
how about an IQ on flower arranging or fashion?
in my opinion a standard IQ test simply determines your ability in solving logical problems.
but it is seen as a measurement for general intelligence, which seems unfair to others who are simply not interested in logic or solving number puzzles.
for example, i am absolutely useless in gardening... it doesn't automatically reduces me to the level of utter daftness in general.
so, why do we consider people less intelligent (in general) who score a lower IQ than others?
just for the simple fact that they can't care less about numbers or logical problem solving?
just as i can't care less about flowers or plants..
i guess if there will be a balanced test for everybody consisting of questions covering
all possible levels and interests anyone could have, we would all score average.
anyway, if you like logic questions and numbers you might as well try the test i did.
my IQ score of 156 however just represents my interest and affinity for logical problems
and solving puzzles in that genre..

..but please, don't ask me the name of the latest fashion designer or when to harvest apples, as those questions would make me seem rather 'unintelligent' ;-)
